I hate strapless clothing, because I always feel like it's going to come flying off. But Jenni keeps insisting I try them on, so ... well, I guess the theme for today's reviews are bare shoulders, since there seems to be a lot of skinny straps/strapless items in Anthro right now.
But before we get into that, I have to break into my sports update. :) Congrats to my Chicago Bulls, who are getting ready to face the winner of the Orlando/Atlanta series on Monday for round 2 of the NBA Playoffs. Go Bulls! Also rooting on Atlanta (I'd rather not face Dwight Howard), Boston (I hate Miami), and Memphis (they almost closed out #1 San Antonio! What an underdog story!). And also, if you tune into USEF Network, I believe they are showing live coverage of the Rolex **** 3 Day Event this weekend. I was able to watch Dressage all day today, anyways. :) XCountry Saturday - it scares the beejeezus out of me, but it's amazing to watch, especially the water jumps!
I have ranged anywhere from a 0 (Cyan Sweetbriar Dress) to a 6(Pigment and Canvas Dress) in Nathalie Lete, so I wasn't sure what to grab. Opted for a 2 and crossed my fingers. It fit, but wow, the material has no give in it! Everytime I took a step, I made it all of ... three inches before the dress stopped me. I could size up and hope that it would give me more room, but it's feeling a little loose up on top. I was going bra-less, so the bra straps wouldn't ruin the pic ... maybe a strapless bra would help fill it up more. The colors are lovely, but I'm not sure I'm feeling the whole strapless vibe.

Anthro Taiwan!
(April Fool's, of course. These clothing items are, however, things that were brought back from Taiwan for me.)
I love Asian fashion! For one thing, they make clothes for people my height, rather than the 5’7 American Giant Woman. Their designs are also unique and there’s no shortage of different stuff, so everyone can find something they love. When I heard of Anthro Taiwan (they call it “An-So”), I was super excited, but their website isn’t quite functional yet, and they don’t ship to the US. But… that’s where relatives come in! My grandma had been picking things up that she thought I’d like, and she sent them back with my mom after her visit. Sooo… here are the reviews! Names are translations (my Chinese isn’t great, so forgive the inaccuracies), and I unfortunately don’t have the prices. Also, the sizes are Asian sizes.
Cozy Cat Sweater – Size XL
From my grandma’s description, I thought I’d love this sweater/cardi (it has a zipper). I love cats, and the navy and beige go great together. But the sizing is a little off. My usual XL was pretty loose fitting through the torso. I also think it’s weird that it’s 3/4 sleeves. It’s great quality, though… very heavy material, and I might keep it around just for loungewear.
Becoming Begonias Dress – Size XXL
Grandma was right to go one size up in this dress. It’s a pretty slim fit, and it stops a little short of where I’d like. I wish it would cover my ankles. This would be a great dress to wear to a recital or to church.
“Let’s Go to the Mall” Sweater – Size XXL
Also had to size up in this one. Such fun colors! I really really wish this came as a sweater set. How cute would it be as a cardi?!
Bella Blossoms Sweater – Size XL
This runs TTS. I’m not sure. The pattern is cute and matches my North Face Calyx bag really well, but it doesn’t stand out to me. Grandma said they had it paired with a great skirt at the store, but she couldn’t find it in my size.
Summer Safari Sweater – Size XXL
Ugh, this one was not for me. Ran a little small, and the material is so itchy! The animal print is really unique, but I don’t like it enough to get past the itchiness. :(
Mystery Dress – Size L
Wow, what a great find on the sale rack! Don’t have the name for this one… it sold out ages ago, but Grandma was lucky to find one sitting around unnoticed. Definitely size down for this. As you can see, even a size L is kind of big on me. But I love the retro print and design of this dress! The daisies make me happy when I wear it. It’s paired with a super-cute animal bag she found at a night market.
Well, that’s all for me! Hope you enjoyed these great selections from Anthro Taiwan! I can’t wait until the next time my mom goes back!
